This
is the Shrimpmobile! AKA an '86 Su-Bar-U Wagon we got last summer.
Believe it or not, all of the band
(that's
three of us) plus all our gear including amps and drum kit fit comfortably inside.
A Tour was definitely called for, and thus arranged - destination, Nanaimo,
a small city across the Straight on Vancouver Island. Venue, the Cambie
Hostel & Pub. Regina is shown modeling the pile of gear.
The
best part abouttravelling
to the Island, for those who don't have to do it all the time, is the ferry
ride over. We lucked out on a beautiful summery afternoon, and sprawled accordingly
about the deck. This was of course after busting our bullocks to catch the dangthing
- they only run every few hours, and the trip takes an hour and a half.
Lots of time to set up in our own 'private'
hostel room (modeled by Mike), and artisticallydecorated by previous musicoids.
The deal included accomodation, a first for some of us, and cheap eats at the
very tasty kitchen/bakery
downstairs, plus actual cash
money on top.
The Big
Time fer shur.I particularily liked the poster for the show - thought
the 'Rock til
ya
Puke!'
caption was especially for us, but they use it every Saturday.

We got a decent and diverse crowd, filled up the place pretty good, and hey,
they did appear to like us!
See
happy new fans....And friends from
Vancouver
too(back of club)to help cheer us along.

After the show, we checked out the dance
club across the way for some local groove, and then headed down to the harbour
to chill out a wee bit before beddie-byes.

Next
day dawned grey
and rainy, with not so much luck catching an early ferry,
necessitating a little hassling of the local flora and fauna to find out where
the local shrimp might be hiding! All in all the best summer vacation ever...no,
wait a minute,....very enjoyable First Tour! Hey Nanaimo - We'll Be Baaack!!!!
